Your resumes is one of the things that are messing you up in your job search. Teach your friends or child.
It may not entirely be a lack of certain certification or paper qualification.
The hiring manager or the recruiter wants to see certain things on your resume/CV that would make it stand out. I will discuss only one of such.
Your resume must have KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS to stand out. Your resume should be actionable not just one with too many fanciful words.
It’s good to have it at the beginning of your curriculum vitae (CV) just after your bio-data.
I will sift out just two examples from my own old curriculum vitae (CV) to drive home this lecture.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
1. Successfully lead the Engineering team for a $7.5million refinery process modification project within a six month functional deadline at ASR Group New York; thus expanding the production capacity of the refinery by 40%.
2. Through my novel scientific in-house research on enhanced oil recovery, I was able to reduce the OIW(oil-in-water) loss at Total Exploration and Production, Nigeria from 40ppm to 0.94ppm. This feat, helped save the company over $1.3million in barrels of oil recovered in a month.
Never you downplay on your little accomplishments. That is what explains in more details your personality before the hiring team meets you in person.
Accomplishments can expose other wonderful attributes of you.
For example, looking at those two of my accomplishments from my resume, you can see:
1. the ABILITY TO KEEP TO DEADLINES AND
2. PROJECT MANAGEMENT Skills
3. COST SAVING SKILL
Now take your time and edit your resume properly.
Goodluck
