Scholarship description:
The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS) have been replaced by a new scholarship program called the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP). This new scholarship program offers funding opportunities for a wide variety of master’s degree programs being offered by Swedish universities during the fall semester.
The purpose of the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is to cultivate future global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well as contribute to the growth of a positive and sustainable economy in their respective home countries and regions.

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:
The scholarship pays for the full cost of tuition, as well as monthly living expenses of 11,000 Swedish Krona, health insurance, and a one-time travel grant in the range of 11,000-15,000 Swedish Krona (only for scholarship holders living outside Sweden).
This award is only given out for master’s degree programs that begin in the fall semester, and it can be used for either a one-year or a two-year program that requires full-time attendance.
There are no further grants available for members of the family. Additionally, the application fee for university admissions is not included in this price.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for SISGP:
- To be eligible for scholarships offered by SI, you must be a citizen of a country that meets the criteria (see above). You are not required to be physically present in the country at the time that the application is submitted.
- You must have a minimum of 3,000 hours of proven work experience to be eligible for this position. In addition to this, you are required to have demonstrated experience in leadership, either from your current or a previous employer, or from engagement in civil society.
- You must be obligated to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities, have completed the steps of University Admissions, and be admitted to one of the eligible master’s programs no later than the 30th of March in each year.
- The master’s degree programs to which you apply must be open to receiving scholarships from SI. The university gives priority to programs within particular subject areas, and this preference is determined by the nation of citizenship of the student.
Additional requirements include having dual citizenship, having previously lived or studied in Sweden, and meeting a few other prerequisites. Examine the full eligibility requirements that can be found on the organization’s website.
Application instructions:
- To begin with, apply for a master’s programme at universityadmissions.se, by 16 January each year. Once you have submitted your application for master’s programme(s) at universityadmissions.se, you will get a personal application number consisting of eight digits. Save the number as you will need it when applying to the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals.
- After you have completed your application to a master’s programme, you can apply for an SI scholarship. You must submit the required documents digitally through the online application portal from 10 February 00:01 until 28 February.
